Intensive English Program (IEP) for F-1 Visa Students

Find out more about registration

Our program for international students

Our Intensive English Program is for students who want to dedicate significant time to their language development. IEP will help students meet their academic, professional, and personal goals. Students will be exposed to new experiences and real opportunities to use English daily as they engage with a new culture.

Our six-level program, ranging from beginner (A1) to advanced (C1), is student-centered and integrates all language skills with contextualized practice at each level. Courses offer immersive, relevant speaking and listening to build confidence and give students the opportunity to learn and work collaboratively with others. Students will gain a comprehensive understanding of English grammar and vocabulary, as well as developing skills to read and write with clarity.

At PELI, students will learn with our experienced and professional instructors among a diverse range of learners. Our school is prepared to offer a safe and comfortable environment for learning, practicing, and building fluency in English.

Placement Test Information

We do our best to see that our students are always placed at the correct level at our school so that they can fulfill their maximum potential. To ensure this, all students must take the placement test before the start of the semester to determine their level of proficiency.

The placement test for IEP is a 70-item, multiple choice test. It consists of a listening/functional language section, a reading section, and a language use section focusing on grammar and vocabulary. The test take about 60 minutes to complete

Placement test results inform student level placement. Students will be notified of their level by email a few days before the new term starts.

Placement Test Requirements

The placement test is mandatory to new students and must be taken in person. Students will be given an appointment for taking the placement test. All testing will occur after students have arrived in the U.S. and have reported to the school

IEP students must make an appointment to take the placement test.

During the placement test students may NOT:

  1. Use phones, headphones, or any other electronic devices.
  2. Talk to another test-taker.
  3. Share test answers
