Private Classes with Tutors

English Tutoring

Philadelphia English Language Institute offers one-on-one English language tutoring with a focus on grammar, pronunciation, conversation, and vocabulary development.

We offer private classes between 11:30am - 7pm, Mondays through Thursdays.

Cost

The price for tutoring is $50/hour.  Each tutoring session is typically one hour long.

"Tuition and fees are subject to change for future enrollment periods. Once a student has enrolled and begun a trimester, tuition and fees for that trimester are locked in."

Students can sign up for a minimum of 12 credit hours at a time. When a student signs up for private classes, they will have up to 6 months to use all their credit hours. After that time, their credit will expire and they need to buy more credit hours if they wish to continue.

Attendance Policies

Excused Absence:

  • If a student needs to cancel class, they should notify the school more than 3 hours before their scheduled class time.
  • Students will not be charged for excused absences. Credit hours can be rescheduled for a later date.

Unexcused Absence:

  • If a student gives no prior warning for an absence, it is unexcused and they will be charged for the missed class.
  • If a student cancels less than 3 hours before their scheduled class time, it is unexcused and they will be charged for the missed class.

Students should notify us by text message if they need to cancel class:  (215) 770-8998

Student Advising

We offer academic and personal advising to students. Current, enrolled students can sign up for an hour-long appointment with an academic advisor, or may walk-in during designated hours (depending on advisor availability).

Academic advising

Academic advising provides resources and information regarding the academic expectations of the students’ course. We strive to prepare students for the American standard of higher education, starting with their current courses. Students and Advisors can work together to:

  • set educational goals
  • discuss the students’ progress towards the next course level
  • resolve issues relating to placement, attendance, advancing or repeating levels, and dismissal
  • exchange feedback and suggestions about the program or course

It is our duty to support students so that they make satisfactory progress. Teachers may refer a student who:

  • is struggling or not making satisfactory progress
  • is in danger of failing or losing status
  • may benefit from advising for any other reason

Any student may choose to receive advising if they want additional support, regardless of their progress in the course

Personal Advising

Personal advising helps students:

  • map out career goals
  • access public services and benefits
  • clarify documents
  • find relevant tools or resources for the individual.

This service also supports students who may experience culture shock or require explanations of American academic, occupational, or social culture.

Advising Hours are between 12:00pm and 4:00pm, Monday through Thursday. Call to schedule an appointment with us.
